For charities navigating the advocacy landscape in 2025, fostering meaningful collaborations is more important than ever. In the world of public affairs, we know firsthand that teaming up can turn good intentions into real change. Establishing strong partnerships has never been more vital for charities big and small who want to make an impact this year.  Here are three ways organisations can work together to get even better results:

1. Co-create with Aligned Organisations

Team up with groups that share your mission, values, or audience. Pooling resources, knowledge, and influence can strengthen your message and expand your reach. Whether it’s a joint campaign, a joint parliamentary event, or something more formal like a Taskforce or Alliance. Partnerships with aligned organisations show unity and amplify your collective voice. Check out our case study for our client the Rare Autoimmune Disease Alliance (RAIRDA) who are a great example of pooling resources to become a force for change.

2. Engage Experts by Experience

While engaging experts, thought leaders, and decision-makers is advantageous, charities that involve people with firsthand experience of the issue, in the co-production and design of policy recommendations and campaigns, will achieve significantly better outcomes and effectiveness in their public affairs strategy. The added benefit is that when you meaningfully engage people with lived experience, they will also become the best advocates for change who are empowered to leverage their own platforms, spread the message and inspire action.

The involvement of individuals with lived experience of one of the 6 less survivable cancers was key to the success of the Less Survivable Cancers Taskforce’s drop-in event in Parliament. Their personal stories made the cause more relatable and accessible, demonstrating the importance of authentic relationships with advocates in promoting a cause.

3. Embrace Community-Led Collaboration

The most impactful advocacy starts with the communities and influencing you’re serving. Collaborate with grassroots leaders and community stakeholders to ensure your initiatives reflect real needs and experiences. Listening and co-designing solutions with them fosters trust and builds momentum from the ground up. Check out the work of our previous client SVP to learn more about their on the ground support which helps foster a culture of social justice and change.

In 2025, impactful advocacy will depend on how well we collaborate. By forging meaningful partnerships, charities can strengthen their voices and create sustainable change. After all, when we come together, we go further. Looking for a like-minded and values driven agency to support your public affairs work? Look no further than the team at Principle.
