We supported Melanoma Focus to secure cross-party political support for Melanoma Awareness Month in May 2022 and 2023 with busy parliamentary drop-in events.
IMPACT
Organised busy parliamentary drop-in events for Melanoma Awareness Month in May 2022 and 2023.
Helped Melanoma Focus to drive forward the campaign to exempt factor 30+ sunscreen from VAT, working closely with cross-party political champions.
The sunscreen exemption campaign has received support from more than 40 cross-party MPs, including two former Health ministers.
A Westminster Hall debate on exempting sunscreen from VAT saw multiple MPs rise in support and prompted a response from the Treasury.
Melanoma Focus provide support and information for patients, carers and healthcare professionals while commissioning and funding innovative research.
Principle have been integral to our work in securing Government support to eliminate hepatitis C in the UK. It's been an incredible long term partnership and has helped transform hepatitis C prioritisation and care.
Rachel Halford CEO, The Hepatitis C Trust, 2025
Over the last 18 months, the team at Principle Consulting has been an invaluable and integral part of the wider St John communications function. Their commitment to deeply embedding with charity clients like ourselves to immerse themselves in our mission and key stakeholder relationships means that they maximise their impact. Their social enterprise model delivers exceptional value for money because it comes with high quality advice. Principle have helped us develop new relationships across all levels of government from a near standing start, expertly enabling our strategy for securing support from the government to allow us to keep continue operating our volunteer-led healthcare support at the levels demanded during the first wave of Covid. They now continue to build on these foundations with the type of critical challenge and support that only the best policy strategists provide. I consider the call to bring Becky and her team on board in March last year as one of my very best decisions as a leader.
James Radford, Director of Strategy & Communications, St John Ambulance, 2021
I just wanted to say thank you to the whole team for making that event happen yesterday. From being a sounding board for event ideas to finding the venue to project managing all the different strands to sending [emails] and chasing Parliamentarians, and for being so enthusiastic and engaging on the day. It feels like we're 100% on the same team, campaigning in partnership for a cause we all genuinely believe in, creating a sense of a movement that clearly impressed our key audiences.
Joe Farrington-Douglas, Senior Fellow, Policy and Public Affairs, Health Equals, 2025
Having Principle on board is like having extra members of our core team. They work alongside us every day and are more than consultants, they are our colleagues and we are so grateful for all their support on our campaign this year [2025]. Their support has seen us exceed our annual KPIs with two months of the year to go!
Ruth Lowe, Engagement and Policy Manager, Health Equals, 2025
The team at Principle are brilliant. They came in at short notice and helped the British Dyslexia Association develop a set of sharp, well-informed, evidence-based policy recommendations in the lead-up to the Jamie Oliver dyslexia documentary and our follow up work in Parliament and with Government. They have also supported us in producing a powerful report on young people with dyslexia and their experiences in education, helping us make it truly hard-hitting. Their expertise has made our advocacy work much more impactful — a real step up — and has helped us increase the reach and influence of our work with policymakers, parliamentarians, civil servants and, importantly, our community.
CEO Ellen Broomé, British Dyslexia Association, 2025
I am really grateful for the timing of our work with Principle. As an incoming CEO just ahead of the General Election, the Principle team have been insightful, focused and engaging in supporting us to prepare for the election and quickly position ourselves with the new Government. Importantly they have helped communicate the Nationwide Foundation’s work on housing effectively to quickly gain traction and influence. I know I speak on behalf of the Foundation team in our gratitude for Principle’s support.
Kate Markey, CEO, Nationwide Foundation, 2024
“The Children’s Charities Coalition have received excellent support from Principle. The Principle team are warm, approachable, and energetic. They have worked effectively to support our five organisations, devise an integrated campaign concept, plan and brand and co-ordinate campaign delivery. Principle provided strategic public affairs insight and campaigns advice, including ensuring our campaign objectives reached senior decision makers and the wider public. They’ve been brilliant on the creative side, supporting us to develop a highly engaging campaign video and microsite. They’ve also really understood the importance of keeping diverse children and young people’s voices at the heart of our campaign. Principle are skilled at navigating the challenges of coalition working, proving themselves to be highly organised, flexible and professional at all times.”
The Children’s Charities Coalition (Action for Children, Barnardo’s, National Children’s Bureau, NSPCC and The Children’s Society), 2024
We Belong has developed a strong and effective working relationship with Principle Consulting over the years. Principle has taken the time to deeply understand We Belong’s core mission, and their support has been instrumental in many of our significant achievements, particularly in advocacy and parliamentary engagement. Their expertise has been valuable in preparing to provide oral evidence to the Home Affairs Select Committee, securing ministerial meetings, and delivering impactful parliamentary events chaired by cross-party MPs and peers over the years.
Principle has also played a key role in training our young changemakers, especially those in our campaign working group, equipping them with the skills and confidence to influence policy decisions. The tailored training provided has ensured that the specific issues our members face are brought to the forefront of policymakers’ attention and that our team is well prepared for parliamentary functions.
In such a rapidly changing political landscape, Principle’s support has been absolutely vital in helping us maintain the momentum of our policy asks and seize opportunities. Their adaptability enables us to respond quickly to shifting circumstances, while their steady guidance offers us much needed stability.
Aidan, in particular, has been an exceptional consultant, supporting We Belong from our early days as the Let Us Learn campaign through our evolution as a fully established organisation. His keen insight into our organisation’s evolving needs and commitment to our mission have been pivotal to our growth and impact. Aidan’s contribution to our journey is deeply appreciated and valued; his expertise makes a profound difference to our work, and it's really great that we can continue working with Principle Consulting.
Mariam Bafo, Policy and Public Affairs Lead, 2026
We used Principle to help us with our Parliamentary work in the run up to the second reading of the Presumption of Death Bill [Presumption of Death Bill] . They were able to hit the ground running, were able to draw on established relationships with key Parliamentarians and other stakeholders and were not only professional but also passionate about the cause. We will certainly use them again if the need arises.
Nicola Sharp, Director of Policy & Advocacy, Missing People, 2013
Principle Consulting’s work on our Publish What You Pay campaign has been of the highest standard of verve, integrity and tactical adroitness whilst always keeping their client fully informed and in the loop. It has led to a clear change in the government's position on the issue against much better funded opposition by clearly out-campaigning and out-influencing them.
Gavin Hayman, Campaigns Director, Global Witness
Principle have quickly become an essential part of our team once more, improving our engagement with MPs and other stakeholders, and raising our profile amongst policy makers. We find their perspectives and insight from across the charity sector a fantastic resource, whilst their ability to adapt to our organisation’s ways of working, their can-do attitude, and clear dedication to our cause are all greatly appreciated
